Born in 1962, Philipp Welte has been Board Member National Media Brands of Hubert Burda Media since 2009. The trained journalist studied Political Science and Cultural Sciences and had been working as a freelance journalist for many years. He joined Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk in Leipzig in 1992, and Hubert Burda Media in 1994 as deputy press spokesman. In 1998 Welte became CEO of BUNTE Entertainment Publishing, two years later he founded the company STARnetONE in Berlin on behalf of Burda, which he both consolidated into Burda People Group later. In 2007 and 2008 Welte worked for Axel Springer AG, first as CEO of AG & Co. KG, later as Managing Director of the publishing house and Chief Marketing Officer when he set up Axel Springer Media Impact, the central marketer for all media of the group.
